V day cards!!!

Card making is an old hobby for me. I wanted to get back to this passion since a long  time! Valentine day provided an excellent opportunity and a flood of ideas! Quilling has always been my favorite paper technique. It gives a wonderful effect to the card. I used the combination of quilling, pearls and punched
hearts' pattern in this set of cards.
When I started this first card, I did not have any particular design in mind. I am inspired by interleaved flower and heart pattern. So there it comes.. I have used ivory card stock, Putting yellow flower, green arrow and red heart adds more color to the end result. Lettering and borders  are done using the brush markers.

Material:  Recollections Ivory Card stock A2
Red,green, yellow quilling paper, quilling tool
Brush markers
Allthings paper has a good site with quilling tutorials and projects. I tried cursive lettering with quilling in this card along with quilled heart and punched tiny heart pattern

Vday card 2
Material: Recollections Ivory card stock
Red quilling paper
Red card stock for borders and punched hearts
Brush markers and pink card stock for the lettering area
Getting married on Valentine's day... definitely a great idea!! That way you make sure hubby forgets neither marriage anniversary nor valentine's day! ;) This card is for vday wedding inspired from lot of quilled hearts designs from pintrest. When I put the quilled heart as the centerpiece, it did not leave any space for lettering..
That triggered the idea of double heart pattern on bottom left. This heart opens. There is text both outside and inside although I feel a bit bigger lettering would have helped.
V day wedding card
Material : Card stock - Red , DCVW patterned red, silver for quilling
Pearls,-black and white
Red, Black brush Markers
This is first card made by cutting card stock into the desired shape n size, I did not have a right colored envelope for it. With  this reference http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Greeting-Card-Envelope I ended up quickly making a red envelope. The design of all the cards is satisfactory but I feel I am lagging in the lettering part. Calligraphy does not look very professional, I have my handwriting popping up everywhere. I am working on a better way of calligraphy.
With that the first set of cards is complete but I am not done yet... Will be back soon with a new set, again for vday; but this time with cards for little kids.

First day as blogger

I am not a writer neither a talkative person ... But when it comes to a subject I am passionate about, it is hard to keep quiet... I have been thinking about having my own website or blog since long time.Finally... today has proven to be the auspicious day :)
Well, this is not a very first attempt to jot down my thoughts. I wrote quite a lot for my wedding website and for Toastmasters! Unlike the others this blog is mostly going to be diary of the "creative me". Last few days were really exciting as I got a chance to get back to my childhood passions; spent quite some time experimenting with the painting, craft, origami and card making.Enough of introduction, cant wait to write my first art post!! Adios!
